Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
Today's list: Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2011
- Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. The entire world seems to adore this one, and I bought it months ago intending to read it. But of course it's somehow made it's way towards the bottom of the TBR, and I want to move it up.
- Harry Potter, (the whole series) by J.K. Rowling. I refuse to watch these movies until I read the books, and we have the movies. The boyfriend watches them from time to time and ignore the television. That's really getting old. (These should probably take up more than one spot. :/)
- Beautiful Creatures, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I've always wanted to read this one, it's just one of those--never got around to it, situations.
- The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. This is a classic, one that everyone and their mother have read and loved. I feel it's necessary for me to read it!
- City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare. I bought this, like Hunger Games, a while ago and it just sits on my shelf waiting for me. The series is getting longer as we speak, so I need to get on that!
- Gathering Blue and Messenger, by Lois Lowry. The Giver is still one of my favorites, and I'd like to reread it, as well as read the companion novels.
- Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins. I'd actually prefer to read this one before the month is over, but I doubt that'll be happening. I haven't seen a single bad word about this novel in the blogging world, and ya'll are the only ones I listen to. So I want it.
- Fight Club, by Chuck Palahniuk. Love the movie, but I haven't read the book. I think it may be a little ruined for me, since I know the 'twist', but I still really want to read it!
- 1984, by George Orwell. Everyone I know who has read this one, says it was great. And I mean, come on, it's George Orwell.
- The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Another classic I own but haven't read.
Bonus: Every review book on my shelf. Ready to get these read and reviewed, and start anew!
You have a great mix of classic and contemporary books on your list! I have not read HP either. I think you'll love The Hunger Games and Anna.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your reading goals!
We have the same taste! I loved The Hunger Games, City of Bones, and so far loving Harry Potter! Can't wait to read what you think of them!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I wish I could read The Hunger Games and Harry Potter for the first time again. I read Anna and the French Kiss the other day and it was wonderful. Happy reading. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have three of my favorite series on this list. I hope you enjoy The Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, and Harry Potter! I think they're awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI am with you on City of Bones, Anna and the French Kiss, and Beautiful Creatures. I too have had them on my TBR list for such a long time. I got 50 pages into Beautiful Creatures, but had to put it down because I had several books scheduled to review at one time. I liked it and wanted to read more, so I definitely need to get back to that one. Great list!
ReplyDeleteAs a Fan of Fight Club don't bother reading especially if you remember the twist. The book was no where as good as the movie.

I just started reading The Outsiders today and am completely loving it so far!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both as far as The Hunger Games go... I really want to know what all the huppla is about. Beautiful Creatures landed five smileys from me, it was lengthy yet totally great read! I hope you do make your way to it. Oh, girl, once you've been hit by the Mortal Instruments you're never going to want to stop reading 'em. Take it from someone who learned the hard way and is now a proud owner of the series up to date, including Clockwork Angel... I just got Anna and the French Kiss for Christmas and I'm really looking forward to dive into it since the complaints have been few and far between... Good luck with getting around to your reading goals!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for stopping by my blog!

1984 made my list. I also have City of Bones waiting for me... I bought it a few weeks ago though so I don't feel guilty about having not read it yet!
ReplyDeleteI've actually had the mortal instruments series (first 2 books anyways) sitting on my shelf. I really need to read them.
ReplyDeleteOMG I've read books 1-5 on ur list! U HAVE TO READ THEM! U will not be disappointed :D
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I also have 1984 on mine (can't believe I haven't read it yet). You'll love The Great Gatsby (it is my favourite novel).
ReplyDeleteI love the eclecticism of this list! I was doubtful about the premise of Anna and the French Kiss when I first started hearing about it, but like you, I haven't seen a bad word about it so I might have to give it a go. I hope you get round to all the books on your list in 2011 :)
