Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City.

Daddy hired you to be my bodyguard.

Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector.

Daddy thought I’d be safe. He thought I’d never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever.

Charles: obsessed with keeping her safe, keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin.

Daddy was wrong.
I was eager to read Overprotected, because we all know how much I love Jennifer Laurens' books. This one didn't disappoint!

This book kind of had that A Season of Eden feel to it, for those that have read it. (Not a bad thing--I loved Eden) Ashlyn is a musician, and when Jennifer writes about a character playing the piano, I always get lost in her writing. It also helps me connect to the character.

Ashlyn's parents...oh my. I would not have been able to live with parents like hers. I think 'overprotected' may actually be an understatement, and her father's obsession with her "safety" crossed over into creepyville. That coupled with her mother's drive for attention, would have been too much for me to handle.

I loved Colin. He was a man, and he took his job as Ash's bodyguard seriously. He tried with all of his effort to keep a wall between the two of them. But what does time do to walls? And if you're going to have a bodyguard forced down your throat, it may as well be a hot one! (I know how that sounds but you know what I meant!!)

I think Ash was a confused girl in the beginning. She wants nothing more than her own freedom and the space to grow up, but she still clung to the relationship she had with her father, which should have expired long before. She also held onto the grudge she had against Colin, and this too should have been forgotten. I think this was a result of her being sheltered though, and we get to watch her grow up rather quickly.

I don't want to say much more for fear of giving away the story. (I hate reading reviews that tell me what happens, even if they don't seem to be spoilery) I also don't think the blurb does the book justice by any means. There is so much more to the story than a girl and her bodyguard falling in love. All I can say is, I loved it! Pre-order it, or get it on your e-reader now because it's worth it!!

 5/5 Stars
