E-Reader of choice?!

I need your help! I recently bought a Kindle, and it seems to be malfunctioning. >:| So I'm thinking I'll have to return it. Howeverrr, I'm no longer sure if I want a Kindle or something else. What's your e-reader of choice? Why?

(I'm going crazy here. :p)

  1. Amazon will take care of that for you.

Honestly, the Kindle. The only real competition is the Nook, but the Nook has horrible battery life, doesn't use E-Ink (it has a regular LCD screen like any computer monitor, so it's like reading off of a tiny pc monitor), and Barnes & Noble doesn't have as big of a selection of e-books as Amazon does.

Plus really, when B&N finally does collapse, how well do you think their e-reader will do?

    Kindle's the best bet :)

  2. It's connecting to wifi just fine, just not the now I'm wondering if it isn't just a bad connection where I'm at. But yeah I was bouncing back and forth between a Nook and the Kindle...still leaning toward Kindle but wanted to see what everyone else thought. :)

  3. When I first got my e-reader I looked at both Kindle and Nook. Since I wanted to be able to get some of my e-books for free from my library and from NetGalley, I ultimately chose the nook.

I have one of the older nooks--not the nook color, and I love it. I haven't had any problems or complaints with and the selection of books has been fine. I can also get free Galleys from NetGalley for my nook, which a few weeks ago became a problem for Kindle users. The other advantage is that I can get free ebooks from my library because the nook reads EPUB documents.

The nook color doesn't use E-Ink technology, but the original nook does, so if that is a consideration, you can choose the original nook which is cheaper.

I really love my nook and don't regret the choice at all.

  4. I own a Nook (not the nook color, btw) and I like it, BUT... I am constantly jealous of all the free books to be found on amazon! I originally went with the nook because I wanted something that would read other formats besides .mobi, but I'm seriously thinking that if I could have a "do-over" I would get a Kindle 3 :)

  5. I prefer the Kindle because it's so easy on the eyes. I've always heard the Sony eReaders, Nooks, and Kobos are buggy. I guess I figure the one that's been around the longest is the one with the reputation.

  6. I have a Nook (not Nook color), and I really, really love it. The version I have of the Nook does have the E-ink version. I really haven't had trouble with the battery life, but I tend to charge my electronic devices frequently anyways. Like Melissa said, the e-books on Netgalley and the ability to read EPUB documents is great as well.

  7. I LOVE my nook (NOT the nookcolor, it has an E-ink screen just like the kindle). Getting ebooks from the library and netgalley and galleygrab is awesome.

And there's plenty of free books on the nook too, just gotta know how to search for 'em :) (search for 0.00)

  8. I am really happy with my Kobo e-reader from Chapters :)

  9. I'm a kindle girl - I haven't had any problems with my 3G connection and it's so easy to read without straining my eyes - talk to Amazon - their customer service is pretty good (at least in the UK!)
