Do you save your reviews?

One of my goals for this year is to blog more often, and blog about more than just reviews and giveaways. So each week I'm going to try to post a poll, or a general question about blogging or reading. I'll only ask something I'm truly curious about.

This week I'm wondering--Do you save your reviews on your computer? I don't. The only time I ever have, is when the internet was down and I wanted to get some reviews written. Otherwise, I write them on Blogger and that's it. I've been thinking lately, should I keep record of them some other way? Do you think it's a good idea to keep a copy of your review somewhere other than your blog?

  1. I keep a copy of all my reviews for about a year. I have horrible visions of my blog crashing and me losing all my reviews, so I save them for awhile just in case!

  2. That's what I was thinking too. If something were to happen with my blog or just Blogger in general, they'd vanish into neverneverland. :/

  3. I don't save mine either, Amanda.. but I'm thinking I should!

  4. I don't save mine but I also post them on other places like Good reads, etc so I figure if I need them I could always go back there and find them.

  5. I post my reviews on Goodreads too. That way I have them all in another place if something happens to Blogger!

  6. That's a really good question. I don't ... but maybe I should. I think sometimes I take for granted the internet's stability, which probably isn't a good thing. Thanks for bringing this up!

  7. Always, always, ALWAYS keep a backup, especially if what you write is important to you. Digital data is a lot more fragile than a lot of people think. Besides, it takes all of five seconds to Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V your latest review into a .txt file, so why not?

  8. I do save mine...the good ones, anyway. I've been extremely fortunate in that in my entire twenty-two-year career, I've only had (to my knowledge) four bad reviews.

  9. I didn't even think about Goodreads, though I do usually post my reviews there too. I think I'll start saving them on my computer as well though. I'm sure that'll lead to anxiety about my computer crashing and then losing them all off of the computer. Haha.

  10. Hm... I've not thought about my blog crashing, so I admit I haven't backed up my reviews. To tell you the truth, I'm more paranoid about my computer crashing than my blog.

I do, however, post them on multiple sites (Goodreads, Deviantart, and sometimes Facebook) so while the original formatting is gone, I still have the substance. And I think that's enough for me.

  11. I put my reviews on Shelfari and Goodreads too. But, other than those two websites and my blog, that's it.

  12. The way that I save them is by having a copy of each post that I post up on my blog sent to my email. That way I always have an extra copy of my review so in case something were to happen to Blogger, I'd have that back up for a rainy day. Hope that helps.

  13. Backup the backup to a USB drive. ^_^

  14. I'm usually pretty paranoid about the computer too, but mostly just because I'm scared of losing pictures. I have the urge to email myself everything on the computer from here on out, just so I know it's somewhere online just in case. I think I'm overly paranoid today. :p
