Reading Habits

This is a little survey of your  (my) reading habits, which I came across over at The Lady Critic's Library!

Do you snack while you read? If so, favourite reading snack?
Rarely, I have a habit of forgetting to eat while I'm reading. I don't realize it until I'm lightheaded and my stomach is screaming at me.

What is your favourite drink while reading?
I just continue to drink whatever I was drinking before reading. Do people honestly have a special reading drink? If that's the case, I'd still be drinking the same thing most of the time.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
I'm going with horrifies. It feels so..disrespectful.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
I use a bookmark, or the receipt that came with the book. A lot of times I just remember what page or chapter I left off on. If you ever see me dog ear a book, call a doctor because I have lost my mind.

Fiction, non-fiction, or both?
I prefer fiction, but I'll read non-fiction if it's a subject or a person who really interests me.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?
I can stop anywhere. When you have kids, you kind of have to develop that ability. I would rather not stop until the end of a chapter though, or the end of the book for that matter.

Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you?
I haven't, but I've seriously considered it. Like when Bella kissed Jacob back, I wanted to throw it. That little skeeze.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?
That's rare. Honestly, I read mostly YA and while I love the genre, it doesn't have the most advance vocabulary. However, if it happens and I honestly have no idea, I'll look it up.

What are you currently reading?
Before I Fall, by Lauren Oliver.

What is the last book you bought?
Daniel X, by James Patterson, I believe.

Are you the type of person that reads one book at a time, or can you read more than one?
I usually just read one at a time, because I'm usually pretty eager to find out how it ends. If I'm into a book, I don't want to read a different one. That said, I have trouble not finishing books, even if they're awful, so sometimes I end up reading two.

Do you have a favourite time/place to read?
How about always? Yeah I wish. I read any time I can squeeze it in. Kids, remember?

Do you prefer series books or stand alones?
Both.

Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?
Perfect Chemistry, by Simone Elkeles. A few by James Patterson, Peeps by Scott Westerfeld, and now Feed by Mira Grant.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author's last name, etc.)
I'm a frequent library-er, so I don't own a ton of books. I have one book shelf that is completely full, organized by author, then size. I also have a ton of romance novels, organized by color then title (for those who haven't realized, romance novels are generally either blue or red). To everyone else, it probably looks like there is absolutely no order to it, but to me there is!

  1. Thanks for the shout-out! Your habits made me laugh a little - ie. Bella kissing Jacob back. Although I'm completely team jacob when it comes to the twilight books and much as I hate to admit it!

  2. re: Twilight
I hated Bella in both book and movie format (I also think that Kristin Stewart can't act for beans); I just thought that she wasn't a strong character at all. Plus, like you said, she was trying to have them both, which so wasn't cool. Bot bokos or movie I'm still Team Jacob - I have such a literary crush on him from after his transformation into a werewolf and ageing 10 years. *sigh* If only there were real people like that ;)
